August is Crab and Lobster Month
Did you know that crabs and lobsters are related to spiders? There are tons of interesting arthropods right off of the Manhattan Beach Pier and inside the Roundhouse. Come check out a few of these arthropods including a California spiny lobster, decorator crabs, hermit crabs, and barnacles right here in the Roundhouse. Make sure to read up on our updated displays and artifact tables for detailed information on these molting creatures. Bring the little ones in during Sea Story time on Sundays at 11:30 for crab and lobster crafts and stories.
Free Field Trips to the Roundhouse
Are you a teacher looking for a Free Field Trip for your Students? The Roundhouse has many grant covered classes for title-1 schools and schools in certain districts. Our highly trained professional educators teach students about marine animals, the importance of keeping our ocean clean, the food chain and many other marine facts. We even go down to the beach for a signs of life beach exploration. All of our classes cover many CA state science standards and we teach classes ranging from K-6th grade.
